Full Description
Using the pages that we created in Mix Up The Media, Kate then shows you how to bind the pages together using front and back covers and a canvas spine to produce a very special Junk Journal – a book of memories just for you or to share with friends and loved ones. Plus, discover a simple trick to keep adding pages to your journal so you can keep adding elements till your heart’s content!
Kate created 6 pages in her programme Mix Up The Media. We return to those pages to add the finishing touches:
The journal cover – I Create Beautiful Art
Kate adds oil pastel doodles, creates a standout image using scanned backgrounds, and add rub-ons and embossing powder. Next comes the quote, which she makes from words stamped onto a page from an old book, which is then glued on to this page.
Page 2 Give Me A Break!
For this page, Kate adds a stamped puffin image and ‘speech’ bubble with a typed quote.
Page 3 Six Things About Me
Put a pocket on it! With some mini kraft tags, too. Kate then stamps numbers onto the tags, with some of her own journaling, and adds a quote to pocket.
Page 4 Trust The Mess
This page gets an ink quote, hand-cut houses and small tags with touches of colour.
Page 5 Change For No-one
Here Kate adds images to the tag, along the way explaining composition and balance. Next she stamp’s a quote onto the old book page, mounts it and places it in the pocket.
Page 6 Put A Little Birdhouse in Your Soul
Here Kate adds an image on kraft paper, creates an overlapping border and writes with an ink-dip pen.
Lets put it all together!
Now that the pages have all been finished Kate shows you a useful technique for binding the pages together to make the journal. As well as some really crafty ways you can go back and add more pages in the future.
The programme ends with a gallery of some of Kate’s other projects, so you can get a pinch more inspiration, if you need it.
