BN-2A Mk.III Trislander (80″)
This is an all-wood electric powered semi-scale model design by Robin Fowler. Powered by three economy motors and a full house R/C that includes flaps, it is capable of very realistic flight and is smooth and docile to fly. Features a typical construction that includes a ‘sprung’ top wing for undercarriage loads. Not for beginners.

My winter project was the Robin Fowler version from Sept 2001 RCMW. I
did not build as originally intended but instead built the fuselage as a
traditional former and stringer type. Could not get my head round
Robin’s version of fuselage build, although I did mount the wing on the
spring suspension as per original. Plus I would have to split the
fuselage and have removable panels on the fully sheeted wing or it would not fit in my car.
I took advise from George at 4-Max and used PO-3535-1390 motors on 9 x
4.5 props on a 3S 6000mA.
The finished long empty fuselage looked all wrong, so I added pilot and
seating to most of it. It’s the first time I’ve have been able to fit a
“whole” pilot to any model.
AUW came out at 5.72Kg (12.6lbs), which is 1.6Kg heavier than the 3 x
600 motored original with NiCd batteries, but it flies beautifully.
