Full Description
Designed by Brian Taylor, this beautiful 1/8th scale, 2.057m (81”) wingspan model is a major but very rewarding project. The three sheet plan builds into a PR.XVI photo-reconnaissance aircraft and details of the location of the camera ports are shown on the plan, as are details of how to make a scale retractable undercarriage. With the Plan (and Short Kit (Set)) also comes 20 pages of articles, which includes the build article, history and detail on converting to Electric.
The model is of all-wood construction but moulded cockpit canopies, engine cowlings and undercarriage doors are available, as are metal propeller spinners. A Laser Cut Wood Pack is also available that contains most of the shaped wood parts needed such as fuselage formers and wing ribs. The and Additional Wood Pack is also available that provided most of the strip and sheet required to complete the wood construction. The model was designed to be powered by twin four-stroke engines but experienced modellers have successfully converted it to electric power (details not supplied on the plan). It is not suitable for beginners, either to plan building or model flying. There is a lot of additional information and Videos available on the internet and on YouTube to help with most aspects of the build and flying.

The full size: One of the first successful multi-role aircraft, the de Havilland Mosquito served as a low-to-medium altitude daytime tactical bomber, high-altitude night bomber, pathfinder, day or night fighter, fighter-bomber, intruder, maritime strike aircraft, and fast photo-reconnaissance aircraft during WWII.
What’s in a Laser or CNC Cut Wood Pack? – A CNC or laser cut wood pack contains most, if not all, of the intricately shaped parts shown on the plan, which would be difficult or time-consuming to cut out by hand. It does not contain any sheet or strip wood, which you will need to buy separately. Alternatively, you can purchase an Additional Wood Pack, if available. Our Laser or CNC Cut Wood Packs only contain balsa, ply and lite ply and do not include other materials that may be required to complete the model, such as hardwoods, metals and GRP sheet.
What’s in a Short Kit? – A short kit usually contains, where available, the plan, the laser/CNC cut wood pack, additional wood pack, canopy, cowl or any other available Glass Fibre or plastic moulded items.
