This classic WWII training aircraft has been painfully replicated in perfect detail by Brian Taylor who achieved 1st in Scale Flying and 3rd in F4C at the 1992 British Nationals. The big three-sheet plan can be used to build any of the variants mentioned and includes provision for the installation of retractable undercarriage and working flaps. The model is of conventional all-wood construction, but a moulded plastic cockpit canopy, engine cowling, undercarriage fairings and a metal propeller spinner are available. A laser cut wood pack and Additional Wood Pack are also available. The Texan was designed to be flown with a 1.20 to 1.50 cu. in. 4-stroke engine, but experienced modellers should be able to convert it to electric power (details not supplied, so please send us information if you make a successful EP version!) It is not suitable for beginners, either to plan building or model flying.
- Designer: Brian Taylor
- Wingspan: 94.5″ / 2.425 m
- Power Source: 1.20 to 1.50 cu. in. 4-stroke
- Radio Functions: 6

About the full size: Over 15,000 T-6 Texans (known as the Harvard outside the US) were built. They were used primarily for pilot training during WWII, but this rugged aircraft was also used in a wide variety of other roles during and after the war. Widely exported, some were still in military operation into the 1990s and hundreds of them are still flying today in private ownership.

What’s in a Laser or CNC Cut Wood Pack? – A CNC or laser cut wood pack contains most, if not all, of the intricately shaped parts shown on the plan, which would be difficult or time-consuming to cut out by hand. It does not contain any sheet or strip wood, which you will need to buy separately. Alternatively, you can purchase an Additional Wood Pack, if available. Our Laser or CNC Cut Wood Packs only contain balsa, ply and lite ply and do not include other materials that may be required to complete the model, such as hardwoods, metals and GRP sheets.
What’s in an Additional Wood Pack? – Our Additional Wood Packs contain MOST of the necessary sheet and strip wood needed to complete a model being built from a Sarik Hobbies plan and using the associated laser cut wood pack, if available. We stock a wide range of balsa, ply and spruce in popular sheet and strip sizes but even so we cannot guarantee to be able to supply all the wood necessary to complete each model. So some additional purchases may be required from other modelling wood stockists if not available from Sarik Hobbies. Our Additional Wood Packs only contain balsa, ply and spruce wood in the stock sizes as used by our suppliers and do not include other materials that may be required to complete the model such as hardwoods, metals and GRP sheet.
What’s in a Short Kit? – A short kit usually contains, where available, the plan, the laser/CNC cut wood pack, additional wood pack, canopy, cowl or any other available Glass Fibre or plastic moulded items.
