Full Description
The P-47D Thunderbolt was one of the most famous planes of WWII. It was an outstanding single-seat fighter plane that excelled in high altitude bomber escort and low altitude ground attacks. The fighter was involved in air-to-air combat and ground attacks in both the European and Pacific theatres. The P-47 was one of the main United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) fighters and served with Allied air forces including France, Britain, and Russia. Mexican and Brazilian squadrons fighting alongside the US were also equipped with the P-47.
Designed by Brian Taylor this 1:6.7 scale Republic P-47D Thunderbolt (Razorback) is superbly detailed, with three large plan sheets that combine to produce a 1930 mm (76”) span all wood constructed model with working flaps and a retracting undercarriage. It was originally intended to be powered by a 1.20 to 1.50 cu. in. 4-stroke engine but experienced modelers should be able to convert it to electric power (details not supplied, so please send us information if you make a successful EP version!) It is not suitable for beginners, either to plan building or model flying.

What’s in a Laser or CNC Cut Wood Pack? – A CNC or laser cut wood pack contains most, if not all, of the intricately shaped parts shown on the plan, which would be difficult or time-consuming to cut out by hand. It does not contain any sheet or strip wood, which you will need to buy separately. Alternatively, you can purchase an Additional Wood Pack, if available. Our Laser or CNC Cut Wood Packs only contain balsa, ply and lite ply and do not include other materials that may be required to complete the model, such as hardwoods, metals and GRP sheets.
