The Spitfire is probably the most talked about aircraft in the aviation world, and this plan offers two versions designed by Scale Champion Brian Taylor of which a Mk.XIV version by Sepp Uiberlacher achieved 1st place in the 1984 Canadian Nationals. Both versions are constructed from all wood and offer moulded accessories and feature working flaps and retracting undercarriage detail on the well-detailed plan sheets. Building your model from a Sarik Hobbies ‘Laser Wood Pack’ semi-kit removes the need to trace and cut your own intricate parts. It will be necessary to purchase additional sheet and strip wood if there is no Additional Wood Pack available to complete the model.
What’s in a Short Kit? – A short kit usually contains, where available, the plan, the laser/CNC cut wood pack, additional wood pack, canopy, cowl or any other available Glass Fibre or plastic moulded items. Only includes what is listed, so no Electronics for example.
What’s in a Laser or CNC Cut Wood Pack? – A CNC or laser cut wood pack contains most, if not all, of the intricately shaped parts shown on the plan, which would be difficult or time consuming to cut out by hand. It does not contain any sheet or strip wood, which you will need to buy separately. Alternatively, you can purchase an Additional Wood Pack, if available. Our Laser or CNC Cut Wood Packs only contain balsa, ply and lite ply and do not include other materials that may be required to complete the model, such as hardwoods, metals and GRP sheet.
How long will my order take? – We only hold a limited amount of ‘ready to sell’ products and so the vast majority of items are made to order on a ‘first come, first served’ basis to ensure the highest quality. Below is a rough guide to the waiting times that you can expect, excluding peak times such as Christmas. For Christmas we recommend orders are placed no later than the 8th December to increase the likelihood that you will receive your order in time. Plans – plans are usually printed within 24 hours of when the order is placed or on the first working day after the weekend. So, including delivery times, please allow for up to a week to receive your plan, or more if overseas. The same for DVDs and Focus File CD’s. Vac-form & GRP – We try to hold a good level of stock of the most popular cowls and canopies, so these are normally dispatched with in 48 hours. The same for glass fibre parts. However, if a part does need to be made for you it could take up to a week to make a bespoke part, plus a few more days for delivery. Laser Cutting – We have three laser machines that are running constantly, but even so it can take a few days for your wood pack/short kit order to be processed and then a couple of days for each batch of orders to be cut. Please allow up to 21 working days (during very busy periods) for this, plus another week for delivery. Additional Wood Packs are usually sent within 42hrs. 3D Printed Parts – are also made to order and can take up to 42hrs to be dispatched.
