Full Description
This big 6-sheet plan for a 120” span, 1:7.65 scale model of the Scottish Aviation Twin Pioneer CC.Mk2 is by Chris Golds, and is a major project that will take some time – and a lot of space – to complete. Construction is from balsa, plywood and some blue foam, and the plan is accompanied by a 16-page step-by-step Instruction manual. This twin electric suits experienced builders and flyers, and the model is designed to be powered by two C3050 brushless motors and two 100A ESCs from two 6S 3700mAh LiPos turning 16” x 8” E-props, and requires 5-function radio control.
The Scottish Aviation Twin Pioneer – or ’Twin Pin’ – was designed as a go-anywhere, carrying anything transport aircraft able to take-off and land from very short, unprepared strips in the days when helicopters were notoriously underpowered and had only a very limited cargo-carrying ability. They saw wide service in Aden, Malaya, Kenya and Oman, moving troops and supplies around a wilderness where there were few proper airfields. Its impressive STOL performance was provided by large slats on the outer wings and immense flaps on both the inboard and outboard wing panels.
The model is of conventional construction, but you will need a lot of space to build, store and transport it. A laser-cut wood pack is available containing most of the shaped parts, such as wing ribs and fuselage formers, but you will need an additional sheet and strip wood, as well as all the hardware needed, to complete the model.
Plan Comes With Article
What’s in a Laser or CNC Cut Wood Pack? – A CNC or laser cut wood pack contains most, if not all, of the intricately shaped parts shown on the plan, which would be difficult or time-consuming to cut out by hand. It does not contain any sheet or strip wood, which you will need to buy separately. Alternatively, you can purchase an Additional Wood Pack, if available. Our Laser or CNC Cut Wood Packs only contain balsa, ply and lite ply and do not include other materials that may be required to complete the model, such as hardwoods, metals and GRP sheets.
What’s in a Short Kit? – A short kit usually contains, where available, the plan, the laser/CNC cut wood pack, additional wood pack, canopy, cowl or any other available Glass Fibre or plastic moulded items.
